Sugar wax holds flavour better than almost any other extract format. That semi crystalline, wet sugar texture is not cosmetic, it is what traps the terpenes.

Why sugar holds flavour

As the extract sits, cannabinoids begin crystallising out of the terpene rich liquid around them. That partial separation is exactly what gives sugar its grainy consistency, and the liquid phase is where the aroma lives. The texture and the flavour are the same phenomenon.

Approachable for a concentrate

Sugar is more forgiving to handle than shatter and more flavour forward than distillate, which makes it a sensible first extract if you are moving over from flower. It is still considerably stronger than flower, so the dosing note below applies.

Start smaller than you think

Concentrates are several times stronger than flower, so the working amount is genuinely tiny. A piece the size of a grain of rice is a real dose for most people. Take one, wait, then decide. Onset is fast enough that you will know within minutes, which makes this an easy format to judge accurately if you give it the chance.

How it is made

Solvent based extraction uses butane, propane or CO2 to strip the cannabinoids and terpenes out of the plant, then purges the solvent back off. Done properly the result is clean, consistent and efficient. Solventless extraction uses only heat, pressure, ice and water. Neither is objectively better. Solventless is harder to produce, which is why it usually costs more.

Storage

Keep concentrates cooler than you would keep flower, and airtight. Glass or silicone, out of the light. If you refrigerate, let the container come back to room temperature before opening so moisture does not condense onto the extract.
