The easiest format to judge
Because effects arrive within minutes, vapes are the easiest format to titrate: one draw, wait, decide. That feedback loop is far tighter than edibles, where the lag between dose and effect is what catches most people out.
It makes vape a sensible starting point if you're still working out your tolerance, and a practical one if you want to stop precisely where you intended.
Carts or disposables
A 510-threaded cart works with almost any standard battery, so if you already own one you can keep it and simply change the oil. Adjustable batteries are worth using properly: lower voltages preserve terpenes and flavour, higher ones give bigger, hotter draws.
Disposables combine cart and battery in one charged unit. Nothing to assemble, nothing to keep track of, which suits travelling or trying the format before committing to hardware. The trade-off is that you're choosing one oil for the life of the device.
Looking after them
Keep cartridges upright and at room temperature. Extreme cold thickens the oil and makes it draw poorly, extreme heat can cause leaking around the mouthpiece. If a cart has been somewhere cold, let it come back to room temperature before use.
